SUNDAY
Hudson and I ran a lazy 2.9 miles on the Snoqualmie Valley Trail in Carnation
Went back to the Snoqualmie Valley Trail in the afternoon, picking it up in Fall City. 7.0 miles on a snowy afternoon
Week ending Sunday February 26
Hudson 4 miles
Chris 29.2 miles with 200'
Disappointing week - but not a disaster
SATURDAY
Woke up at 7am to head to La Conner. No sound of rain - good. Or maybe not:
Hahaha!
In La Conner 70 miles away there was barely a light drizzle and it was cool and windy. Fun race and a good run. 10K in 43:46. I was at a 6:38 pace after 2 miles but could not keep up, finishing at 7:02. Results TBD
FRIDAY
Day off. Bad week. Rain - not an excuse as much as demotivating
THURSDAY
Day off. Dentist and work
WEDNESDAY
Day off. Work was busy and the weather sucked
TUESDAY
1.1 miles with Hudson from house to a trail in the Preserve. Light rain
6.0 miles in Watershed Preserve in Redmond - in the rain. More challenging was the trail-wide puddles
MONDAY
6.0 miles on Watershed Preserve in Redmond - just a short trot from the house. It was nice being back in a rainforest-like setting. Hud had the day off, relaxing from being in the car all weekend

Sunday, February 19, 2012
Week of February 13 to February 19
SUNDAY
Day Off as we were in the car from 7am MST until 8pm PST
Week ending Sunday February 19
Hudson 12 miles with 1 summit
Chris 22.6 miles with 7,032' and 3 Green Mountain summits
A nice streak of 7 weeks with over 40 miles ended but expected
SATURDAY
Dry Creek with Hud. 2.1 miles before the 2 day drive to Seattle
FRIDAY
Day off. I had little motivation to run a flat path as trails are getting messy
THURSDAY
Green Mountain with Hud at sunrise. Plan was 20-30 minutes of goofing around. We ended up hiking to the summit. He never got tired
Hud set his PR; 5.7 miles with 2,344' in 1:56:26. Woo-hoo!
Green Mountain in the afternoon. Goal was still 1:09:59. Made it to the summit in 46:25, signed the register and was about to start the sprint down - when 2 people politely asked directions that took 40-60 seconds. Final time: 1:10:51. Worst of all was I realized the directions I gave were wrong. Duh!
On the day 11 miles and 4,688'
WEDNESDAY
Dry Creek with Hud. 2.1 miles. He needed to work out his frustration that a Pekingese won Best-in-Show last night
TUESDAY
Green Mountain at sunrise. Goal was 1:09:59 (my 2012 goal for Green Mountain). Made it to the summit in just over 46 minutes, scrambled up to the cairn, took a few pics and was heading down at 47:37 (I remember I had to make it down in 22:22). Sadly it took 23:17 for 1:10:54. A PR by 2:04 over Sunday. Quads (running downhill) and lower calves (climbing) are sore. 5.3 miles and 2,344'
MONDAY
Dry Creek with Hud. 2.1 miles
Hudson gives "snake face" and growls more since the fight - which is ok since he only does it when another dog is in his face. It does makes me nervous - what if he does it to the two German Shepherds we see at South Mesa? Yikes

Week of February 6 to February 12
SUNDAY
With excellent conditions at Green Mountain I was hoping for a good time. Another cold morning although it rarely feels as cold as the temperature says (9F today)
Was disciplined as far as what sections I ran or hiked. Made the summit in 47:15 which is good, ~3 minutes off my best. No summit log (WTF!) so took an obligatory photo and was on my way down with the goal of setting a personal record
When dry the descent is a rocky 3 miles that requires focus and decisions. Now it is a 2,344' run down with abandon. What took 30 minutes in the fall took 23:14 today. The final two miles I apparently ran at a 6:30 pace. Ta da! Personal Record of 1:12:58. Woo-hoo!
Week ending Sunday February 12
Hudson 14.4 miles with 1 summit
Chris 43.4 miles with 5,448'
SATURDAY
No plans but Hudson seemed ready - so went to Green Mountain. Figured we'd goof around a bit but - despite the 6F again - we ended up summiting. 5.7 miles and 2,344' in fresh snow
Signed up for the 10K "Smelt Run" in La Conner, WA in 2 weeks. Sea Level!
FRIDAY
Had a dream I was running a half marathon and started 5 minutes late. And I couldn't run fast
Dry Creek with Hudson. 2.1 fast miles - our second fastest time. It was 6F
Went to sign up for a Half Marathon Sunday in Arvada but it's sold out. Boo!
A long week at work - so took off at 1pm and did a 14 mile run with 250' - longest run next to pacing Leadville Chuck for 22 miles at the Leadville 100 last summer. Below is the turn-around point
THURSDAY
Dry Creek with Hudson. 2.1 miles
WEDNESDAY
It was 12F at sunrise so we delayed our run. Hudson and I ran at Stazios Ballfields late morning. 1.6 miles at a leisurely pace
Work is busy but made it out in the afternoon to do the Doudy Draw / Flatirons Vista out-and-back. The snow is still not good for running - soft and deep. 6.75 miles with 560' and 1 wipe-out. Tough but fun
TUESDAY
2" of new snow. Took Hudson to Stazios Ballfields to run the path. The city was actually plowing as we were there - which did not please Hudson ("monsters"). 1.3 generally frolicking miles
A silly day at work so took Hudson to Dry Creek at noon for a 1.55 mile spin. He played with several good dogs
Late afternoon went to buy a new pair of road running shoes. Tried them out at Stazios. Did a lazy warm-up jog followed by running as fast as was sustainable for just over 7 minutes. Per Google Maps "beta version" I ran 1.1 miles which would be a 6:24 pace. Maybe. No hamstring pain which is excellent

Day Off
Sunday, February 5, 2012
Week of January 30 to February 5
SUNDAY
Hudson finally got a run in - on leash from Stazios Ballfields. It was cold. 16F but sunny. He seemed perplexed by the deep snow. 1.7 miles and a little frisbee afterwards
Ran Boulder Creek Path from Stazios to Broadway in the afternoon. Almost skipped. 9.4 miles at an 8:17 pace
Week ending Sunday February 5
Hudson 7.7 miles with 1 summit
Chris 40.7 miles with 4,456'
SATURDAY
Wasn't in the mood to trudge through a few feet of snow so ran the nicely plowed flat paved paths through the city. Similar to the Burke-Gilman back in Seattle. A generally lazy 12.7 mile run
Hudson is getting restless. May need to do an on-leash run since the snow is up to his shoulders
FRIDAY
12" - 16" of snow - so Hudson got the day off
Went to Green Mountain in the afternoon. Way harder than expected. Was scrambling up the steepest sections. Saw one runner who turned around at the scree field as he was up to his waist in snow. I turned around after an hour (with an hour plus to summit - it is a work day) - took 25 minutes to get down. Guessing 3 miles and 1,150'
THURSDAY
Hudson was exhausted after doing Mount Sanitas yesterday so took him back! He pretty much refused so we went to some more mellow trails across the street. Maybe 1.3 miles
Mount Sanitas in the afternoon. 3.1 miles and 1,357'
WEDNESDAY
Hudson set a PR for Mount Sanitas. 27:55 to the summit and 51:44 round trip
Went south in the late afternoon to Cowdrey Draw / Community Ditch / Coal Seam / Marshall Valley. 4.8 miles with 300' of hills
Today registration opened for the Jemez Half Marathon. 13.6 miles with 2,723'
Maureen signed up as well
TUESDAY
Dry Creek with Hudson. 2.1 miles
Cocktails in the evening
January
Hudson 56.6 miles
Chris 181.3 miles with 27,593'
MONDAY
Day Off
